The rotator cuff is really a group of muscle, ligaments and tendons inside your shoulder that essentially hold everything in place and stop your arm popping out of its socket whenever you raise your arm above your head. There are two principal causes of a rotator cuff tear within the shoulder and they are, one; extreme trauma, like a huge fall or sustaining and injury to your shoulder. The second is due to age, in some cases the rotator cuff just kind of falls apart as a result of normal wear and tear on the body.
